Finance Manager (Hong Kong)

    Job Summary:
    Our client is a global leader in the development and supply of high-performance construction chemicals and they are seeking a Finance Manager to join their team in Hong Kong. This dynamic role will play a pivotal part in overseeing the financial operations of the Hong Kong office, responsible for the Company’s general accounting functions and assist the management in the implementation of various financial systems and procedures as well as reporting requirements. To guide the company in all financial issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance and accounting, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Supervises monthly closing of accounts. Assures that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with the organization’s accounting policies, chart of accounts and related accounting principles and practices, and that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger.
    • Participate in overall management by providing financial input to company management in arriving at business decisions.
    • Prepare any reports required by Management or Government Authorities and assist the management in implementing systems and procedures to set up and improve finance operations.
    • Responsible for Credit Control activities to manage credit risks of the Company.
    • Handle regular or periodic processing and immediate payment of all taxes, permits/licenses to appropriate government bodies, monthly, quarterly and annually – VAT, withholding tax, Income Tax, etc.
    • Manage treasury function of the Company including cashflow management for working capital maintenance of the Company and ensure the monthly minimum cash target is achieved and maximise cash remittance to Group.
    • Lead self-audit projects and co-ordinate with other self-audit project leaders to ensure all projects can be completed on time.
    • Prepares reports required by Management and assist the management in implementing systems and procedures to improve finance operations.
    • Provide specific inputs required in areas of cost containment, cost efficiency measures that improves the company’s bottom line.
    • Ensures that the company complies with group requirements in timely production of monthly, interim, year end accounts, management accounts, statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, audit of accounts and evaluation of Capital Expenditure (CapEx), and statutory compliance in preparation of annual accounts, audit of accounts, etc.
    • Manages the banking and financial facilities for the company as directed by the CFO of the group.
    • Act in the position of Company Secretary at Board meetings and fulfil secretarial matters.
    • Perform reviews on standard costs of inventory on a timely basis to ensure relevance and reliability of data. Monitor perpetual / periodical stock takes in conjunction with Operation / Supply Chain Team and review stocktaking results.
    • Regular review of factory recovery rate and update standard cost in computer system.
    • Ensure periodic physical count of Fixed Asset.
    • Computation of corporate income tax, work with tax reviewer and arrange tax returns to be filed on time.
    • Ensure all financial records and documents are always maintained in an organised and updated filing system.
    • Have high HSE awareness to safe everyone in the working environment and comply with HSE policy.
    • Keep up to date with all local tax legislation and to advise Group of strategies to minimise local tax exposure. Ensure compliance of local laws (including taxation laws, tax audit readiness) related to running of business and mercantile laws applicable to the Group.
    • Manage effective Working Capital to meet operating cashflow targets of the company.
    • Calculate sales commission on regular basis according to the approved scheme.
    • Compliance to group policies and ensuring adequate procedures to track all legal permits and prerequisites are in place.
    • Handle other tasks that may be assigned by Management as the need arises.
    • Manage direct reports within the team.
    • Provide coaching to finance team and identify high performers.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • At least 5 yrs + post qualification working experience as a Finance Manager
    • Good command of the English & Chinese Language, both written and spoken & effective communication skills
    • Exposure to ERP systems and standard costing systems
    • Willingness to accept challenges and pressures at work
    • Good knowledge of accounting standards, taxation and other regulatory financial reporting requirements. Result oriented and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. A team player with strong organisation skills.
    • Excellent skills on MS office applications, computer literate with outstanding skills in Excel and PIVOT tables
    • Sound working knowledge of general business principles and their applications to industry
