Director - Data Science

    Main Responsibilities:

    Data Insights:

    • Lead the discovery and interpretation of actionable insights from large data and metadata sources.
    • Evaluate processes and tools for monitoring model performance and data accuracy.
    • Initiate discussions across 3+ squads to identify data analysis questions and issues.
    • Collaborate with Data Engineers to develop sophisticated algorithms in data analytics software, enhancing work efficiency.

    Project Management:

    • Oversee multiple data products, addressing conflicts, challenges, and evolving business needs to maintain operational excellence.
    • Guide data science teams in proposing solutions to business units, aligning KPIs, resource planning, and resolving personnel and project obstacles.
    • Conduct post-mortem and root cause analyses to facilitate continuous improvement within squads and ensure maximum productivity.
    • Identify and foster growth and improvement opportunities within the team.

    People Management:

    • Manage human resources planning and execution (headcount & costs) within their function/sub-function.
    • Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent to build a high-performing team.
    • Establish and communicate individual and team KRAs/KPIs, goals, action plans, expectations, and results to reporting lines.
    • Monitor sub-function/function performance and provide regular feedback following the annual performance management cycle.
    • Identify and address team capability requirements, facilitating professional and personal development through assessments, training, coaching, mentoring, etc.
    • Motivate and acknowledge team members for their contributions toward shared goals.
    • Develop talent within the function/sub-function.
    • Exemplify and promote corporate culture at the function/sub-function level.
    • Understand and communicate relevant HR offerings to team members.

    Qualifications:

    • Holds a Master's or PhD degree in fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Analysis, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related numerical disciplines.
    • Possesses 12+ years of relevant experience encompassing data analysis, machine learning, deep learning model development on large datasets, implementation, and deployment of various statistical models, with at least 4 years of people management experience.
    • English proficiency meets Techcombank's standards.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in querying databases and utilizing programming languages such as Python, Spark, TensorFlow, Scala, SQL, C, C++, and Java.
    • Extensive experience in constructing data and analytics solutions, data mining, statistical model construction, and predictive modeling.
    • Applies machine learning and AI techniques to address questions within the technology and finance sectors.
    • Skilled in providing data-driven insights to support senior management and stakeholders in achieving enterprise value on a large scale.
    • Proficient in Agile Software Development, possessing a comprehensive understanding of Agile principles, practices, and Scrum methodologies.
    • Experienced in leading successful digital transformation projects within Agile teams, involved in end-to-end planning and implementation.
